Don is an invaluable resource to our 5to1 team at Yahoo. He is accustomed to the changing technical environment and can adapt to new ways of doing things. I am really impressed with his talent, his ability to quickly pick up a new technology stack like Yahoo/Java and hit the ground running. Don is smart, a prolific programmer, and has an astounding work ethic. Over the last 19-20 years (17 at Microsoft), I have had the pleasure of hiring Don fives times and each time, he has proven himself to very capable developer who can master (yet another) technology rapidly and begin to contribute massively.

Don is one of the most passionate and thorough devs I have ever worked with. He lives and breathes iOS and never stops in his quest to learn more and improve his skills and understand things at a deeper level. I am so happy I got the chance to work with him for so many years and was so inspired to see someone so immersed in their work. There is no problem he will not be willing to tackle and if there is a solution he will find it! He is also great at communicating requirements to product managers and advocating for the development team to leadership. Don, Is a supremely experienced and motivated engineer. The span of his engineering projects is nearly unparalleled by any of his peers. This experience leads Don to know the right solutions and better yet have previous experience building on them. What’s also impressive is that he never stopped learning. He parlayed his tremendous experience on building server software to building iOS apps. Don was the lead on our app when I worked with him and did some amazing things. Many times he pulled off impossible projects with his accumen and will power. He is an asset to any engineering team.

Don is one of the most professional developers I have worked with in my career. In our work together at Scout he was always available with sound advice on any technical topic. He was our go-to engineer for databases and importing new customer data into our systems. He was one of our team of backend engineers creating the server code to gracefully handle our large request volume. He was one of our iOS developers working on our mobile app. His code does what it needs to without fuss. We used an open source web framework for our website that is in wide use but that was not capable of handling our sizable traffic load. Don rapidly designed and wrote a replacement, with the same API, that replaced the one we were using. It significantly outperformed the one it was replacing.

Don is a great engineer and personality. He attacks any and all tasks with a thorough tenacity. Don is adept at quickly becoming an expert in a new technology. He has a great test driven approach to mastery of new technologies. This test driven approach extends to his coding as well. This allows him to produce very high quality work in a short time. His can do attitude and willingness to do any task to help the team succeed is infectious. Don is an asset to any team, I look forward to working with him sometime in the future.

I worked with Don in the same agile team for almost a year. During that time I got to know him as a detail oriented engineer that produces high quality work. He was never afraid to ask critical questions and make good suggestions to improve the quality of our product. On top of that he was also always available to help other team members.
